Plant Operator - Civil Construction and Road Maintenance

About the Opportunity

We invite motivated and skilled Plant Operators to become part of our expanding Roading Maintenance and Construction team in Whangarei, Northland. This role offers a chance to engage in diverse infrastructure projects vital for sustaining and enhancing transport links that support local communities.

Role Responsibilities

• Efficiently and safely operate various civil construction equipment such as excavators, rollers, loaders, graders, and additional machinery relevant to road projects.
• Conduct tasks including road upkeep, pavement restoration, drainage systems, and construction activities.
• Perform pre-operation checks and routine maintenance on plant equipment.
• Collaborate with supervisors and team members to meet project objectives and deadlines.
• Adhere strictly to safety protocols and company policies during all operations.
• Maintain work quality and comply with environmental regulations.
• Provide assistance with general labor tasks when needed.

Candidate Profile

• Demonstrated experience handling heavy plant machinery within civil construction or road maintenance sectors.
• Holder of a full Class 1 driver’s license with WTR endorsement; possession of Class 2, 4, or 5 licenses is advantageous.
• Familiarity with road maintenance, sealing, pavement building, drainage works, or related civil infrastructure projects.
• Valuable skills include machine control and GPS technology experience.
• Strong dedication toward health, safety, environmental care, and quality assurance.
• Capable of effective teamwork coupled with self-driven initiative and ownership of work responsibilities.
• Reliable, diligent, and motivated with a constructive mindset.
• Preferred to have applicable industry certificates, qualifications, or tickets.
