Role overview
This position is for a QA/QC Manager working on a civil engineering project in Nandurbar, Maharashtra. The role focuses on setting up, monitoring, and improving quality systems across execution, testing, documentation, and compliance.
Quality assurance responsibilities
- Review, endorse, and keep track of the project’s Quality Assurance Plans (QAP), Inspection & Test Plans (ITP), and method statements/work procedures.
- Verify that project execution follows contract terms, applicable IS Codes, ASTM standards, international standards, and the expectations set by the client and consultant.
- Plan, conduct, and supervise internal as well as external quality audits.
- Carry out vendor and subcontractor quality audits.
- Promote continual improvement actions and capture lessons learned for future execution.
Quality control responsibilities
- Oversee inspection and testing for concrete works such as mass concreting, RCC, and shotcrete.
- Monitor quality checks for underground works including tunneling, surge shafts, and caverns.
- Ensure quality control for dam and water conductor system works.
- Manage inspection of structural steel, reinforcement, and formwork activities.
- Approve material sources and confirm testing for cement, aggregates, steel, and admixtures.
- Ensure testing equipment remains properly calibrated.
- Track field and laboratory testing performed at site and through third-party laboratories.
- Review NDT outcomes and geotechnical investigation findings.
Documentation and reporting
- Maintain a strong document control system for the project.
- Examine and approve inspection reports, test results, material approvals, and quality dossiers.
- Prepare monthly quality reports and management KPI dashboards.
- Ensure all quality records are complete and traceable.
Compliance and risk management
- Ensure the work complies with statutory requirements and environmental and safety norms.
- Identify quality risks early and put mitigation measures in place during project execution.
- Coordinate QA/QC activities with EHS and project planning teams.
Stakeholder coordination
- Serve as the main quality contact for the client, consultants, and third-party inspection agencies.
- Lead quality review meetings and site inspections.
- Work with design and execution teams to close technical quality issues.
Technical focus areas
- Hydropower and pumped storage project civil structures.
- Dam engineering and underground construction.
- Concrete technology, including mass concreting and temperature control.
- ISO 9001 quality systems, QA/QC tools, root cause analysis, and CAPA.
- Leadership, decision-making, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management.
Education requirement
B.E. or B.Tech in Civil Engineering is mandatory. A preferred higher qualification is M.Tech in Structures, Geotechnical Engineering, or Hydropower. Certifications in Quality Management, ISO Auditing, or NDT will be an added advantage.
