Job Overview

AbbVie is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join the engineering team at their Carraigtwohill, Cork location. This role is a fixed-term contract lasting 23 months and reports to the Engineering Operations Manager. The successful candidate will offer technical expertise to resolve daily production challenges, emphasizing reliability engineering, asset management, continuous improvement, and energy and sustainability efforts. Additionally, the role involves supporting manufacturing projects and ensuring site compliance, efficiency, and readiness for audits.

Key Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and resolve daily production technical issues, focusing on asset reliability.
• Provide support for manufacturing projects adhering to quality, safety, environmental, and operational standards.
• Lead or contribute to projects, develop training programs, and facilitate cross-training activities.
• Promote process enhancements and drive Kaizen continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) teams to ensure safety compliance for personnel and contractors.
• Manage engineering change controls to maintain compliance.
• Support equipment, process, system, and utility reliability standards.
• Participate in root cause analyses and implement corrective measures.
• Prepare business cases to justify technical upgrade projects.
• Enhance maintenance systems and identify both technical and financial improvement opportunities.
• Engage in energy management, sustainability initiatives, and asset lifecycle planning.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor's degree (Level 8) in Mechanical, Chemical/Process Engineering, or related field.
• At least 2 years of experience in a Maintenance Engineering or comparable role within an FDA or HPRA regulated environment.
• Experience working in a sterile fill manufacturing facility.
• Strong understanding of cGMP and pharmaceutical regulatory requirements.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Fluent in English.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
