About the Role

TD is seeking skilled Machine Learning Engineers to join Layer 6, its AI center of excellence. This team designs and deploys advanced machine learning systems that serve over 27 million customers, enabling better financial solutions. The role involves working on cutting-edge AI technologies, including deep learning, generative AI, and time series forecasting, utilizing expansive financial datasets. Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with an elite AI development team known for delivering state-of-the-art machine learning solutions.
• Design and implement scalable machine learning and generative AI systems integrated with existing data platforms, emphasizing automation, operational efficiency, and reliability.
• Develop clean, maintainable, and efficient code to facilitate robust deployment of scalable AI applications.
• Handle extensive real-world datasets, including banking transactions, conversational data, and large document collections.
• Commit to continuous learning and development of advanced AI skills alongside a team passionate about knowledge sharing.

Candidate Requirements

• A Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in computer science, statistics, mathematics, engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of three years experience delivering production-quality code.
• Strong foundations in machine learning and deep learning methodologies.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, C, or C++.
• A keen eye for good software and API design standards.
• Dedication to building scalable and reliable software solutions.
• High degree of accountability, ownership, and clear empathetic communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Research exposure with publications in relevant fields.
• Experience with frameworks like LangGraph, PyTorch, TensorFlow, Jax, or similar libraries.
• Background in developing and scaling data-intensive software systems.
• Familiarity with GPU-accelerated deep learning training.

Work Environment and Compensation

Position located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada with a 37.5-hour work week. Total annual compensation ranges between 120,000 and 250,000 CAD, reflecting a market premium subject to annual review.
