About the Role

Join Star Construction LLC as a Locator, where your role will focus on identifying and marking underground utilities using flags and paint. This position plays a vital part in promoting safety and efficiency throughout various projects by accurately locating essential underground infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment designed to detect underground utilities, consulting experienced locators when guidance is needed.
• Interpret utility maps to precisely identify underground utilities.
• Maintain thorough documentation of all utility location activities.
• Provide courteous and timely responses to excavation requests.
• Engage effectively with excavators, utility representatives, and internal staff.
• Use a shovel to perform light digging when required.
• Be available for overtime, travel assignments, and on-call or after-hours tasks as necessary.
• Work outdoors under various weather conditions.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States for this specific employer.
• Possess a high school diploma, GED, or demonstrate relevant work experience.
• Hold a valid state driver's license (excluding provisional licenses) and maintain an acceptable driving record.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

• Regularly expected to work independently in isolated locations, operate vehicles, perform tasks with arms raised above shoulder level, and carry out physical activities such as bending, stooping, walking, standing, and lifting up to 55 pounds. Proficiency with keyboard and mouse is also required.
• Occasionally required to use portable ladders, navigate confined spaces, and climb stairs.

The primary job site is located in Alabaster, Alabama.
