Junior Accountant

About the Role

We are seeking a meticulous and driven Junior Accountant to join our Finance team in a hybrid full-time or part-time position based in Melbourne, Australia. This role offers the chance for recent graduates or early-stage professionals to develop their accounting career by engaging in practical financial tasks within a collaborative and supportive atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting transactions.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable processes.
• Prepare and reconcile bank statements alongside other financial records.
• Support month-end and year-end closing procedures.
• Maintain precise accounting documentation and organized filing systems.
• Handle invoice processing, expense claims, and payment reconciliations.
• Contribute to budgeting efforts, financial reporting, and audit preparations.
• Ensure adherence to internal financial policies and accounting regulations.
• Work collaboratively with various teams to resolve accounting inquiries.
• Perform additional accounting and finance duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

• Strong numerical aptitude, analytical thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.
• High attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills to work well within a team.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office programs.
• Basic knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
• Familiarity with accounting software such as Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, or SAP is advantageous.
• Positive attitude with eagerness to learn and ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Educational Requirements

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related disciplines preferred.
• Recent graduates or those with internship or entry-level experience in accounting, bookkeeping, finance, or administration encouraged to apply.
• Knowledge of Australian accounting procedures and GST practices considered a plus.
• Candidates pursuing CPA Australia or CA ANZ certifications are favored.
