Information Technology Officer

Role overview

The Information Technology Officer will deliver day-to-day technical assistance to staff, including third-line troubleshooting. Where a case needs outside coordination, the officer will work with external stakeholders to move the request forward and keep the designated point of contact updated until the issue is resolved. This role also covers oversight, rollout, and ongoing upkeep of the school’s technology environment, ensuring that computers, applications, hardware, and software run reliably and efficiently.

Core duties

• Oversee the school’s IT infrastructure and computer systems.
• Support KPI completion by meeting deadlines, collecting data, preparing documentation, and presenting findings to management.
• Plan, coordinate, manage, and assess IT and data-related operations.
• Create and improve systems, policies, and procedures, and recommend technology strategies based on organizational needs and results.
• Coordinate major IT work such as system changes, upgrades, migrations, and outages, including timelines and delivery expectations.
• Protect data, network access, and backup environments.
• Align system capabilities with user requirements while supporting organizational policies.
• Spot operational issues and implement practical solutions quickly.
• Evaluate systems and monitor how well they perform.
• Safeguard company assets, information security, and control frameworks.
• Manage the annual IT budget with a focus on cost efficiency.

Qualifications and experience

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or Computer Science from an accredited university. A professional certification such as Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) is preferred. Candidates should bring at least 3 years of hands-on experience in a System Administrator, Network Administrator, or comparable position.

Preferred technical background

Applicants with practical exposure to databases, LAN/WAN environments, patch management, intrusion detection systems, and backup and recovery processes will be considered especially suitable.
