Role Overview

The Housekeeper reports to the Program Manager and is responsible for keeping the facility clean, sanitary, and presentable. The role focuses on hygiene, infection prevention, and maintaining a safe environment across resident areas and shared spaces.

Core cleaning coverage includes resident rooms, hallways, common areas, dining spaces, offices, and washrooms. The position also supports garbage removal, linen handling, and the upkeep of high-touch and high-traffic areas to help protect resident safety.

About Bradford House

Bradford House offers specialized assisted living support for older adults with complex needs in Bradford, Ontario. Its goal is to help residents remain safely in the community for as long as possible and reduce or avoid the need for institutional care.

Case Managers provide care coordination, crisis response, system navigation, and advocacy. Residents also benefit from life enrichment activities, community outings, and meals and snacks that can accommodate certain special dietary needs.

Key Duties

The Housekeeper will be expected to carry out day-to-day cleaning and support tasks in line with facility standards and direction from leadership.

  • Clean resident rooms, shared areas, corridors, washrooms, kitchens, and office spaces each day
  • Vacuum, mop, dust, disinfect surfaces, and remove waste as part of routine cleaning
  • Launder, dry, fold, and store clothing and linens, and replace bed sheets regularly
  • Use infection control procedures, WHMIS practices, and personal protective equipment correctly
  • Identify and report unsafe conditions or other safety concerns without delay
  • Manage garbage collection and disposal according to proper procedures
  • Support emergency response activities such as evacuations and contacting emergency services when needed
  • Follow facility rules and complete additional tasks assigned by the Program Manager

Requirements

Applicants should have a secondary school diploma or an equivalent credential, or related cleaning experience and/or training.

The role calls for practical knowledge of cleaning tools, chemicals, and their safe use, along with familiarity with health and safety standards. Candidates should be comfortable working with limited supervision, able to handle shifts that may include nights and weekends, and have working English skills in both spoken and written form.
