Head of Venue Technology Delivery

Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic leader to oversee the successful delivery of advanced technology solutions for stadiums, sports venues, and international sporting events. This role encompasses full project lifecycle management, focusing on integrating ICT, AV, and ELV systems to enhance operational readiness and improve the event-day experience for all involved parties.

Primary Responsibilities

• Lead Venue Technology projects from initial concept through planning, procurement, installation, testing, commissioning, and handover to operations.
• Manage preparation of RFPs, vendor selection processes, contract coordination, and project implementation post-award.
• Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including governance, technical specifications, implementation strategies, and reporting mechanisms.
• Coordinate execution efforts aligning vendors, consultants, contractors, and internal teams.
• Develop integrated project plans that correspond with operation, engineering, and event delivery demands across various venues and events.
• Specify functional and technical requirements for venue technology systems and infrastructure.
• Collaborate with Operations teams and event organizers to define scope, expected operations, and technical delivery criteria.
• Monitor project progress, including timelines, costs, risks, quality, and issue resolution to ensure project success.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, cybersecurity requirements, and venue operational protocols.
• Lead vendor performance management to guarantee contract fulfillment, quality of service, and client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
• Oversee testing, commissioning, integration validation, operational readiness, and transition to live operations.

Resource and Governance Management

• Track and report status of all Venue Technology projects and programs.
• Deliver regular executive reports and dashboards to senior stakeholders.
• Chair coordination meetings involving vendors, consultants, operators, and other external partners.
• Oversee the Venue Technology Delivery team ensuring alignment with project goals and operational needs.
• Confirm that designs and implementations meet venue standards, support scalability, and accommodate future enhancements.
• Provide leadership, mentorship, and technical guidance to team members and resources.
• Contribute to strategic planning for venue technology evolution and innovation.
• Perform additional tasks assigned by management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related fields.
• Over 10 years of experience in IT and technology project delivery.
• At least 7 years in a leadership role managing complex technology projects.
• Minimum of 4 years experience in sports venues, stadiums, or large-scale sporting event environments.
• Certification in PMP or PRINCE2 project management methodologies.

Essential Skills and Competencies

• Demonstrated success in leading large ICT, AV, and ELV technology projects in stadiums, arenas, smart venues, or mega-events.
• In-depth knowledge of SMART stadium and integrated venue technologies.
• Experience with design, implementation, and management of venue technology for international sporting events.
• Strong grasp of project management frameworks, governance, and delivery best practices.
• Capability to read and produce technical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and infrastructure layouts.
• Expertise in vendor management, stakeholder communication, and contract administration.
• Outstanding leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
• Exceptional analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to juggle multiple concurrent projects under fast-paced, high-stakes event conditions.
