About RFBerlin
The ROCKWOOL Foundation Berlin (RFBerlin) is dedicated to advancing research that sharpens public discourse and strengthens evidence-based policymaking. The institute concentrates on pressing topics such as labor and applied economics, addressing issues like unemployment, inequality, technological impacts, health, gender economics, and migration.
Role Overview
We seek a dynamic and strategic Head of Communications to lead and broaden the institute’s communications initiatives. This leadership position entails shaping how RFBerlin connects with policymakers, the media, and the broader public, while managing a comprehensive, innovative communications strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage RFBerlin’s communications strategy, focusing on research dissemination, media relations, digital outreach, and engagement with stakeholders.
- Lead and mentor the communications team, providing clear strategic guidance and overseeing daily operations.
- Build and nurture relationships with prominent media representatives, journalists, and policy stakeholders within Germany and internationally to enhance the institute’s visibility.
Required Qualifications
- Academic background in communications, journalism, economics, or a related discipline.
- Significant professional experience in communications with a track record of managing teams.
- Proven skill in simplifying and conveying complex research outcomes to diverse audiences including policymakers, media professionals, and the public.
- Strong interest in social policy, economics, and evidence-driven policy development.
- Fluency in German and English is essential.
- Proficiency with tools vital to modern research communications such as social media platforms, newsletter management, website content systems, and analytics tools.
Additional Information
The position offers a competitive remuneration package reflective of the candidate’s qualifications and experience. Contracts may be full-time or part-time depending on seniority. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis with shortlisted candidates invited for interviews. The starting date is flexible and can be agreed upon with the candidate.
The role requires working onsite at RFBerlin’s central Berlin offices. Remote-only arrangements are not permitted.
