About the Role
The Sun Valley store in Gladstone is seeking a dedicated and hardworking Assistant Manager for the fruit and vegetable department. Reporting to the Fruit & Veg Manager, the successful candidate will lead a small team, oversee scheduling, manage ordering, conduct stock takes, and perform other department management tasks in a fast-paced supermarket environment.
Responsibilities
- Leading and managing a small team within the fruit and veg department
- Creating efficient rosters to ensure adequate staffing
- Generating orders and managing inventory control
- Completing stock takes to maintain accurate product levels
- Coaching, training, and performance managing team members
- Working collaboratively with team and management to maintain department standards
- Upholding work health and safety practices and standards
- Executing merchandising tasks to enhance product presentation
Requirements and Skills
- Experience or knowledge of fresh food retail is preferred but not mandatory
- Ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team effectively
- Strong skills in ordering and cost control
- Competence in team scheduling and roster management
- Demonstrated passion and a proactive, hands-on approach
- Exceptional customer service commitment
- Excellent communication skills
- Capability to liaise confidently with both team members and management
- Strong leadership qualities including delegation and team development
- Commitment to maintaining workplace health and safety
