Front End Developer

About the Role

We seek a Front End Developer to maintain and enhance a variety of public-facing websites based out of Austin, Texas. This long-term contract position involves ensuring website content is accurate, improving usability, and providing a uniform user experience across multiple web properties. The role is entirely remote and ideal for individuals skilled in both front-end development and content management systems, with a proactive, service-focused mindset to handle website updates and support tickets efficiently.

Primary Responsibilities

• Continuously update and maintain content across numerous county websites, guaranteeing the information is up-to-date, precise, and user-friendly.
• Enhance page layouts and interface components to boost usability, aesthetic consistency, and overall site quality.
• Conduct quality assurance reviews on website changes to verify functionality, formatting, and content before deployment.
• Manage incoming support requests through a ticketing system and ensure timely completion of tasks.
• Publish urgent notices such as public advisories, meeting details, and official communications as needed.
• Support and update websites built on CMS platforms including WordPress and Wix.
• Work closely with stakeholders to understand requested changes and translate them into effective front-end implementations.
• Utilize provided graphic resources to apply approved visual updates while maintaining branding and accessibility standards.

Required Skills and Experience

• Practical front-end development expertise with HTML, CSS, and general web page maintenance/enhancement techniques.
• Experience with CMS platforms like WordPress and Wix in a production support or content management context.
• Familiarity with ticketing or service request systems such as Jira Service Desk, ServiceNow, or equivalent tools.
• Ability to manage frequent content updates across multiple websites with meticulous attention to detail.
• Competence in conducting quality assurance checks involving link validation, layout, and content verification.
• Excellent customer service and communication abilities to professionally handle stakeholder queries and requests.
