About Mindrift and the Tendem Project
Mindrift develops advanced AI-human hybrid solutions by connecting domain specialists with cutting-edge AI initiatives. The Tendem project focuses on creating conversational bots integrated with popular messaging platforms, blending artificial intelligence with human oversight to streamline repetitive tasks.
Role Overview
As a Chatbot Developer, you will architect, implement, and enhance bots for platforms like WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord, and Slack. Your work will specialize in crafting seamless conversational interfaces for tasks such as customer support, appointment scheduling, order processing, content distribution, moderation, and automated alerts.
Key Responsibilities
- Create bots tailored for messaging platforms including WhatsApp Business API, Telegram Bot API, Discord, Slack, among others.
- Design conversational flows, manage dialogue states, and ensure effective fallback mechanisms.
- Integrate bots with large language models (such as OpenAI or Anthropic) to enable natural language interactions as appropriate.
- Connect chatbots with backend infrastructure, databases, CRM systems, and third-party APIs like booking or payment gateways.
- Manage webhooks, adhere to platform-specific message formats including interactive elements, buttons, and media.
- Review and enhance AI-generated bot code to maintain accuracy, reliability, and robust error handling.
- Implement logging, monitoring, and recovery processes to ensure production stability and bot health.
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum of three years of relevant experience in backend development, automation, integration, or bot development.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related technical disciplines is advantageous.
- Practical experience building bots for major messaging platforms (WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord, Slack) for at least one year.
- Strong proficiency in Python or Node.js to implement backend bot logic.
- Solid understanding of REST APIs, webhooks, OAuth, and asynchronous request processing.
- Familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases used to maintain conversation state and user information.
- Knowledge of LLM APIs and prompt engineering for conversational contexts is highly desirable.
- Insight into platform constraints like message templates, approval workflows (e.g., WhatsApp templates), and rate limiting.
- Experience with cloud hosting and deployment techniques such as Docker, serverless architectures, VPS, or PaaS platforms.
- Keen attention to detail ensuring bots function reliably without silent failures or broken conversations.
- Ability to independently manage end-to-end bot development, demonstrating a proactive work ethic.
- Presentation of a portfolio or examples showcasing previously developed bots is mandatory.
- English language proficiency at an upper-intermediate level (B2) or higher is required.
Work Commitment and Compensation
The project requires an estimated commitment of 10-20 hours weekly during active periods, subject to project demands. This is not a guaranteed workload but an approximation while the project runs.
Compensation can reach up to $60 per hour equivalent based on contribution quality and speed. Earnings may differ between projects depending on their needs, complexity, and skill requirements.
