About Mindrift and the Tendem Project
Mindrift connects experts worldwide with innovative AI projects aiming to unlock the full potential of Generative AI. We are currently seeking skilled Bot Developers to contribute to the Tendem project by creating conversational bots and integrating them with various messaging platforms.
Role Overview
This freelance, part-time position involves designing, developing, and refining bots for platforms such as WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord, Slack, and others to automate tasks like customer support, bookings, order processing, content dissemination, moderation, and notifications.
Key Duties
- Develop and implement bots on multiple messaging platforms, including WhatsApp Business API, Telegram Bot API, Discord API, among others.
- Design conversational flows, manage dialogue states, and handle fallback scenarios to ensure smooth user interactions.
- Integrate large language models (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic) to deliver natural language responses when applicable.
- Connect bots with various backend services such as databases, CRMs, third-party APIs for functions like bookings, payments, and content access.
- Manage webhooks, respect platform-specific constraints like rate limits and message formats (buttons, media, templates).
- Review and improve AI-generated bot code to ensure accuracy, stability, and effective error management.
- Implement comprehensive logging, monitoring, and recovery systems to maintain healthy bot operation in live environments.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum three years of relevant experience in backend development, automation, integration, or bot creation.
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related disciplines is advantageous.
- Solid practical experience developing bots for at least one major messaging platform such as WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord, or Slack.
- Proficiency in Python or Node.js programming languages focused on backend bot logic development.
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs, OAuth, asynchronous request processing, and webhooks.
- Experience working with relational or NoSQL databases to manage conversation states and user information.
- Knowledge of LLM APIs and prompt engineering for conversational AI is a significant plus.
- Understanding of platform message templates, approval processes, and limitations, specifically for WhatsApp.
- Experience in deploying and hosting solutions using Docker, serverless architectures, VPS, or PaaS platforms.
- Strong commitment to detail and ensuring bot reliability, avoiding silent failures or broken interaction flows.
- Ability to independently design and deliver complete bot solutions.
- A portfolio or examples demonstrating previous bot developments are required.
- Fluency in English at an upper-intermediate level (B2) or higher is mandatory.
Work Schedule and Compensation
The role requires an estimated 10 to 20 hours weekly during active project phases; this workload is approximate and dependent on project needs. Compensation rates can reach up to $60 per hour, varying by experience and contribution pace.
