Job description

Role Overview

The College of the North Atlantic invites applications for the position of Food Service Worker I at the Bay St. George campus. This role involves carrying out routine tasks related to food service operations while adhering to food safety and occupational health standards.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in food preparation activities within the kitchen environment.
  • Reheat meals safely by following strict food safety protocols.
  • Maintain cleanliness by sanitizing workstations and kitchen appliances to comply with food safety and health regulations.
  • Operate computerized cash registers efficiently, handling cash, debit, and credit transactions, while delivering courteous customer service.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned to support smooth kitchen and food service operations.

Candidate Requirements

  • Completion of high school education or recognized equivalency.
  • Experience within institutional or industrial kitchen settings is advantageous.
  • Understanding of food safety principles and sanitation practices.
  • Familiarity with computerized point-of-sale systems.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to exchange information effectively.
  • Commitment to providing superior customer service.
  • Capable of working efficiently in fast-paced environments and managing time and tasks effectively.
  • Demonstrates professionalism and strong interpersonal skills.

Employment Conditions

  • Candidates may be required to provide a recent, satisfactory Certificate of Conduct upon employer request.
  • Physical demands include kneeling, bending, walking, standing, lifting and moving objects, and occasional use of kitchen machinery and equipment which may cause fatigue.
  • Shift and weekend work are part of the job requirements.

Salary Details

Hourly wage ranges from CAD 21.26 to CAD 23.06 according to CG20 classification.
