Financial Controller (Contract)

Position Overview

We are seeking a seasoned Financial Controller to lead and oversee the company's accounting activities and financial reporting processes while managing the transition from outsourced accounting services to an entirely in-house finance operation. This is a fully remote position based in Panama, reporting directly to the CFO. The opportunity starts immediately on a full-time contractor basis with a monthly compensation ranging between $2,000 and $4,000 USD.

Key Responsibilities

• Assume full responsibility for the integrity and accuracy of the General Ledger (GL) and the Chart of Accounts.
• Lead the inbound transition from an outsourced accounting model to an internal accounting structure.
• Manage the monthly close process, including reconciliations and ensuring precise financial data.
• Prepare comprehensive monthly financial statements and management reports, analyzing Profit & Loss statements across business units.
• Supervise the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable teams, reviewing invoices, payroll, expenses, and vendor payments.
• Monitor cash flow, perform bank reconciliations, and coordinate tax reporting activities including payroll and sales taxes.
• Guarantee compliance with company financial policies and controls while maintaining strict confidentiality of sensitive financial information.

Required Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience as a Financial Controller or Senior Accountant with full accountability for the General Ledger.
• Proficient in managing month-end close and financial reporting processes.
• Practical knowledge of QuickBooks accounting software.
• Experience overseeing accounting or bookkeeping teams.
• Strong grasp of accounting principles and financial controls.
• Integrity and professional discretion in handling confidential financial data.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to work independently in a remote work setting.
• Advanced professional-level English skills (C1/C2) in written and oral communication.

Preferred Background

• Experience leading accounting transitions or implementing process improvements.
• Familiarity with project accounting tools such as BigTime or equivalents.
• Work background in professional services, construction, architecture, engineering, or design sectors.
• Experience with luxury architecture, interior design, or upscale residential design firms is highly advantageous.
• Possession of a CPA or equivalent accounting certification is favorable.

Additional Information

• Employment begins with a three-month contractor trial period, potentially extending into a longer-term role based on performance.
