About the Role
Mercor specializes in connecting top-tier creative and technical professionals with prominent AI research laboratories. Based in San Francisco, Mercor is backed by prestigious investors such as Benchmark, General Catalyst, Peter Thiel, Adam D'Angelo, Larry Summers, and Jack Dorsey.
We are currently seeking an Accounting Expert for a contract position working fully remotely, with compensation ranging from $130 to $160 per hour.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop specific, task-focused grading standards for practical accounting outputs, including reconciliations, month-end close packages, and financial statements.
- Evaluate both AI-generated and human work samples against these standards, providing comprehensive written explanations supporting each evaluation.
- Maintain consistent and evidence-backed scoring to guarantee assessments are reproducible and well-founded.
- Incorporate structured feedback from senior reviewers and rapidly refine your evaluations.
- Work independently and asynchronously to improve AI models' performance in accounting tasks.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of five years of professional experience in accounting.
- Experience in audit, assurance, or advisory roles within leading global accounting firms, or senior accounting positions at large publicly traded companies.
- Certification such as CPA or an equivalent professional credential is highly preferred.
- Extensive expertise in applying US GAAP, managing month-end close, preparing account reconciliations and financial statements, and producing audit-ready documentation.
- Exceptional written communication skills.
- Highly detail-oriented, consistent, and able to maintain judgment under peer review.
Preferred Experience
- Previous involvement in AI training, evaluation, or projects combining human and data analysis.
