Finance Business Partner – Planning and Reporting

Role Overview

The Finance Business Partner – Planning and Reporting will assume a pivotal role in offering financial guidance throughout the Trust’s continuous planning cycle, encompassing in-year financial performance reporting and the development of the subsequent year's financial plan. As a key member of the Senior Finance Team, the postholder will fully engage with all business-related matters.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver a comprehensive financial reporting and planning service in collaboration with Divisional Finance Teams, Income and Contracting, and Financial Services.
• Ensure timely availability of financial and operational reporting to meet both internal and external requirements.
• Develop and maintain the Trust’s medium- to long-term financial plan using accurate data.
• Provide financial leadership in the planning and reporting function, supporting the creation of robust financial plans and high-quality reporting.
• Drive continuous improvement in the financial reporting suite including in-year performance, forecasting, statutory and regulatory submissions.
• Integrate financial, workforce, activity, and performance data to offer clear insights into the Trust's current financial status and future outlook.
• Offer detailed analysis highlighting key risks and necessary actions to support the Trust’s objectives.
• Coordinate the Trust-wide annual planning process ensuring assumption consistency, accurate financial modelling, and unified reporting across divisions and corporate teams.
• Provide expert financial advice, constructive challenge, and assurance to senior leaders and present complex information at executive and governance forums.
• Support submissions to NHS England and system partners.
• Lead enhancements in financial planning, reporting, and information systems to strengthen the Trust’s operational performance and long-term fiscal sustainability.
• Deputise for the Deputy Directors of Financial Management and Finance Strategy, Planning and Income as required.
