Role Overview
The Facilities Service Assistant will serve as a versatile member of the facilities team, carrying out a variety of cleaning and maintenance tasks to maintain high standards across the healthcare environment. This position requires close collaboration with multiple facility personnel to meet the operational needs of the service.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out diverse cleaning activities across different environments by following a systematic cleaning plan to ensure thorough coverage of all areas.
- Maintain cleanliness in locations including toilets, bathrooms, patient single rooms, ward areas, patient day rooms and lounges, offices, meeting rooms, external patios and entrance surroundings, outpatient departments, kitchens, and sanitary spaces.
- Identify and troubleshoot equipment faults or adjust cleaning schedules as necessary to ensure effective service delivery.
- Participate in ongoing training as directed, which includes techniques for cleaning and required mandatory courses such as Fire Safety, Moving and Handling, COSHH, and Infection Control.
- Support and mentor apprentices through a buddy system, ensuring they understand all health and safety requirements, trust policies, and procedures.
- Complete tasks relating to environmental audits aimed at monitoring and maintaining cleanliness standards.
Additional Information
The specific duties will be tailored and discussed during the interview process to meet the needs of the service. This role involves working closely with the Facilities Housekeeper, Facilities Team Leader, other Facilities Staff, Matron, the Head of Catering, and applicable Heads of Departments. Direction is provided by the Facilities Team Leader.
