Role Overview

Located in Riyadh, the Exploration Director will spearhead the identification and procurement of superior gold resources, vital for maintaining the ongoing supply of materials for refining operations and supporting the growth of the nation's mining industry. Reporting directly to the CEO, this position will influence SGR’s upstream strategic direction. The successful candidate will adeptly manage regulatory policies, guide technical teams, and deliver measurable expansion in resource holdings.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement a comprehensive annual exploration strategy aimed at discovering and acquiring promising gold assets.
Oversee the process of applying for and renewing exploration licenses in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources.
Supervise drilling activities and geological modeling to ensure precise resource evaluation.
Manage the exploration budget effectively, ensuring optimal use of capital across projects.
Ensure all operations maintain strict health, safety, and environmental protocols.
Foster relationships with government bodies, local communities, and partnership stakeholders.
Recruit, guide, and manage a multidisciplinary team of geologists and field experts.
Prepare detailed technical reports for submission to authorities and company leadership.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in Geology or Earth Sciences is mandatory.
Minimum of 20 years experience in mineral exploration, including at least 5 years in leadership roles.
Proven track record in gold exploration within the Middle East or comparable regions.
Comprehensive understanding of Saudi mining regulations and MIM licensing processes.
Strong expertise in geological modeling and resource estimation techniques.
Experience managing sizable exploration budgets and multiple contractor teams.
Fluent English required; Arabic proficiency is highly desirable.
Willingness to conduct frequent travel to remote field locations.

Preferred Qualifications

PhD in Economic Geology or a related discipline.
Knowledge of refractory gold ore processing characteristics.
Extensive professional network within the Saudi mining industry.
Background working with publicly listed mining corporations.
