Role Overview
The Engineer for Plant & Machinery (P&M) will be responsible for overseeing the allocation and monitoring of all assets related to P&M across projects. This includes analyzing resource utilization, managing equipment performance, and ensuring optimal operational efficiency in construction settings involving roads, bridges, and metro projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and monitor project-wise distribution of all P&M assets.
- Generate and review reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis for informed decision-making.
- Create programs aimed at maximizing the efficient use of resources.
- Supervise the usage and condition of hired plant and machinery.
- Track and manage diesel (HSD) consumption accurately.
- Monitor output and productivity from various P&M units.
- Identify equipment breakdowns and assess associated risks promptly.
- Manage a diverse fleet including construction vehicles like dumpers, tippers, trailers, and four-wheelers.
- Handle material handling equipment such as cranes and construction machinery including TBM, concrete mixers, compactors, pavers, road rollers, heavy-duty pumps, batching plants, etc.
- Minimize idle times for P&M equipment to enhance productivity.
- Oversee erection and setup of major plants and machinery at project sites.
- Prepare budgets related to plant and machinery resource allocation and usage.
- Monitor and control costs associated with P&M operations.
- Coordinate servicing and routine maintenance of all equipment to ensure reliability.
- Prepare Daily Machine Reports (DMR) and perform analysis for ongoing improvements.
Additional Information
This role demands handling projects across multiple domains including roads, bridges, and metro initiatives. Efficient management of both owned and rented machinery is critical.
