Our innovative approach lets customers move cattle calmly without traditional tools like quad bikes, dogs, or fences—transforming the grazing industry in a way many describe as magical. Joining Halter means becoming part of a high-performing team focused on solving challenging problems and creating meaningful change backed by leading investors.

Role Overview

As a Drone Mapping Specialist, you will be responsible for gathering precise aerial imagery on dairy farms throughout your region, providing essential data for paddock mapping and deployment planning. This hands-on position requires traveling to numerous farm locations, operating drones to capture consistent imagery, coordinating visits with farmers, and ensuring all mapping work meets Halter's quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Travel extensively across your assigned region to perform drone mapping on dairy farms.
  • Plan farm visits by considering factors such as weather conditions, farmer availability, travel distance, and deployment schedules.
  • Communicate directly with farmers to arrange visit times, discuss access needs, and explain on-farm activities.
  • Capture high-quality aerial photos that will support the generation of accurate ortho maps for farm management.
  • Upload, log, and verify mapping data meticulously following each farm visit.
  • Demonstrate professionalism as a representative of Halter while working on customer sites.
  • Perform additional farm-related tasks as occasionally required.

Candidate Profile

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to quickly establish rapport with farmers and present Halter positively.
  • Strong organizational talents allowing independent daily planning and efficient management of multiple farm visits.
  • Dependability, a solid work ethic, and dedication to fulfilling commitments promptly.
  • Capability to work autonomously post-training while maintaining team communication.
  • Keen eye for detail when handling aerial data capture and administration.
  • Adaptive problem-solving skills to handle unforeseen challenges such as weather, accessibility issues, or equipment complications.
  • Possession of a valid, clean full driving license.
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently and stay away from home for 2-3 nights weekly.

Additional Information

There are two permanent vacancies, one based in the North Island and one in the South Island, with flexibility around candidate location if travel is manageable. Halter promotes diversity and inclusion and encourages candidates who may not meet every criterion but demonstrate potential to apply.
