About the Role
The Kentucky State Police, known for its dedication to law enforcement and public safety, is seeking a Driver's Test Administrator to join its regional office in Nelson County. This role contributes significantly to traffic safety statewide by administering driver’s license tests to ensure that only qualified individuals operate vehicles on Commonwealth roads.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct vision, written, and road skills examinations for Class D or M motor vehicle license applicants.
- Administer Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) knowledge and endorsement written tests.
- Assist the public by answering licensing testing procedure queries and providing necessary information.
- Verify applicant eligibility by reviewing required documents.
- Coordinate with the Transportation Cabinet to resolve any discrepancies related to tests and documentation.
- Perform duties both indoors and outdoors, including prolonged sitting and vehicle rides during tests.
- Travel within the assigned region’s counties may be necessary to cover staff vacancies.

Minimum Qualifications
- Must have graduated from high school.
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Hold a valid driver's license before starting employment.
- Maintain required licensure(s), certification(s), or credentials throughout employment.
- Must have four years of licensed driving experience as verified by the employing agency.
Additional Information
This is a full-time position (Pay Grade 09) with a salary of $31,292.40 annually, under the Executive Branch with eligibility for overtime pay. It requires a 37.5-hour workweek. The role is based onsite at 201 Guthrie Dr Ste C, Bardstown, KY, and includes a 12-month probationary period.
