Driver - Tractor Trailer

Job Objective

The main responsibility of this position is to ensure the secure and polite loading, unloading, and transportation of equipment to customer locations within Indiana and neighboring states.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct safety inspections on trucks and machinery before use.
• Communicate with dispatch to receive delivery and pick-up assignments.
• Deliver equipment courteously and efficiently to customer sites.
• Complete deliveries and equipment pickups safely and promptly.
• Verify fuel, fluid levels, and functioning of equipment before loading.
• Accurately fill out rental contracts, pickup tickets, and damage reports, ensuring proper signatures are obtained.
• Demonstrate safe and correct equipment operation during delivery to customers.
• Report any damaged equipment immediately to the shop lead or service manager, and inform the sales coordinator.
• Contact the sales coordinator following each delivery to provide updates.
• Maintain cleanliness and professional upkeep of service vehicles and shop equipment, ensuring servicing every 90 days or sooner if needed.
• Log fuel consumption and mileage on designated reports.
• Store equipment and vehicles carefully to avoid property damage when not in use.
• Complete all special tasks or projects assigned by the store manager promptly.

Qualifications

• High school education with some technical training preferred.
• Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required.
• At least 2 years of experience hauling tractor-trailer vehicles.
• Familiarity with delivery routes and ability to read maps of local and surrounding areas.
• Strong communication skills including written, verbal, and listening abilities.
• Preference given to candidates with product knowledge related to equipment.
• Excellent customer service skills.
