About the Role

KOAM News Now is on the lookout for a full-time Digital Content Producer to enhance our digital offerings by creating and distributing informative and engaging content across social media, streaming services, and other digital platforms. This role operates within a dynamic newsroom environment, requiring quick, sound publishing decisions to support both breaking news and daily stories.

KOAM serves as the leading source of local news, weather, and sports in the 4-States region encompassing Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Missouri. The station is part of Morgan Murphy Media, a longstanding family-owned business since 1890, managing a diverse media portfolio that includes TV and radio stations, print publications, websites, mobile and streaming applications, as well as a digital marketing agency across 11 locations. Key Responsibilities

• Publish news stories with optimized headlines, SEO, tagging, image selection and cropping, and formatting.
• Keep track of breaking news and update reports swiftly and accurately.
• Compose and edit web stories from scripts, press releases, and reporter notes adhering to AP style guidelines.
• Adapt and distribute content to platforms such as TikTok, Facebook, X (Twitter), and Instagram, crafting platform-specific copy and managing scheduling.
• Create short video clips, add basic subtitles and titles, and design simple graphics when necessary.
• Manage homepage content, prioritize stories, and coordinate transitions within the newsroom.
• Ensure fact-checking and source verification conform to ethical and legal standards; utilize analytics to improve headlines and content placement.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated sound news judgment with rapid and precise execution under tight deadlines.
• Exceptional writing and editing abilities that reflect strong AP style command and web-appropriate clarity and brevity.
• Basic multimedia capabilities including photo editing, simple video clipping, and caption application; familiarity with Canva or Adobe software is advantageous.
• Strong verification skills to confirm sources, validate user-generated content, and maintain transparency in corrections and updates.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including part-time shifts, within the newsroom schedule.
