Role Overview
We seek a creatively inclined, methodical, and digitally proficient early-career communications professional passionate about impactful mission-oriented work. The Digital Communications Coordinator supports the organization's marketing communications and digital engagement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage digital channels including social media accounts, website updates, and email newsletter dissemination.
- Create, schedule, and distribute content for social platforms such as LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and X.
- Design, write, format, and circulate newsletters and electronic mail campaigns utilizing Mailchimp.
- Assist in creating communications materials for major projects, reports, events, and organizational news.
- Maintain editorial calendars and coordinate timelines for communications activities.
- Monitor social media interaction and aid in managing online communities.
- Conduct media monitoring and press tracking; help maintain media contacts and communications databases.
- Work alongside internal teams and external partners to facilitate communication campaigns and public engagement efforts.
- Update website content and manage digital communication resources.
- Ensure consistent messaging and visual branding across all communication outlets.
- Keep abreast of evolving digital marketing trends and social media best practices.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Exceptional writing and editing capabilities with adaptability in tone for varied audiences and platforms.
- 1 to 2 years’ experience in communications, digital marketing, social media, nonprofit communications, or related areas (including internships).
- Completed post-secondary education in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, English, Media Studies, or an equivalent relevant background.
- Proficient with social media platforms and digital communication technologies.
- Experience with tools such as Canva, Hootsuite, Mailchimp, WordPress, or comparable software considered advantageous.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities and deadlines efficiently.
- Collaborative team player with effective interpersonal communication skills.
- Creative approach with strong interest in storytelling, public involvement, and mission-driven communication.
- Interest in social, civic, or nonprofit sectors.
- Experience handling paid social media campaigns is a plus.
