About British Dressage and Role Overview
British Dressage serves as the UK's National Governing Body for the Olympic and Paralympic discipline of dressage. Boasting over 17,500 members and orchestrating more than 2,500 affiliated competition days annually, the sport has experienced considerable international success and growing public engagement over recent years. We are currently seeking a Development Officer based in Scotland who will operate primarily from home with significant travel throughout the region. This pivotal position reports to the Regional and Volunteer Manager and functions under the guidance of the volunteer Regional Committee for Scotland.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and oversee competition and training programs across Scotland.
- Promote and advance the presence and growth of British Dressage within the Scottish region in alignment with the strategic plans set by BD’s Technical Committees and Board of Directors.
- Serve as the principal liaison for all stakeholders, ensuring effective relationship management and diplomatic communication.
- Collaborate closely with the Regional Committee members including representatives for coaches, riders, judges, para dressage, youth, and marketing.
- Manage competing priorities and deadlines flexibly, including availability during evenings, weekends, and for overnight stays during regional travel.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
- Self-driven, enthusiastic, and energetic individual with excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Preferable to have comprehensive knowledge of dressage and its competitive environment.
- Must hold a valid full driving license and have access to a personal vehicle for regular travel within Scotland.
- Capable of working independently with strong computer literacy, especially proficiency in Microsoft Office and reliable internet connection for a home-based setup.
- Ability to maintain a professional, approachable demeanor ensuring positive stakeholder engagement throughout the region.
- Flexibility to work outside standard hours as required by the role.
Additional Information
- Location: Home-based in Scotland with extensive regional travel.
- Salary Range: Approximately £34,000 to £38,000 per annum, based on experience.
- Employment Type: Full-time position.
