About the Role
The Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand is seeking a Data Engineer on a fixed-term contract to be part of their Digital Transformation and Technology team. This role involves managing organizational data through the enterprise data platform, ensuring data accessibility, reliability, security, and suitability for various purposes. The candidate will collaborate with digital and data experts, business units, and external partners to design and maintain robust data solutions that enable analytics, reporting, and data-driven decisions.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain data engineering pipelines and solutions integrating multiple data sources.
- Implement and manage data warehouse and platform capabilities to support business intelligence and analytics.
- Monitor and support data governance, quality, security, and compliance through effective processes.
- Create and maintain data models, metadata management, and data structures.
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders internally and externally to enable data sharing and organizational insights.
- Enhance stability, performance, and continuous improvement of the enterprise data platform.

The fixed-term contract is initially for one year, reflecting the program's early stage, allowing the successful candidate the chance to meaningfully contribute to shaping the future aviation landscape.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
- Relevant qualifications or equivalent professional experience in data engineering.
- Proven experience with database management systems and enterprise data platforms.
- Expertise in Azure data technologies including Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Databricks, and Azure Data Lake.
- Experience building and sustaining data pipelines and managing data integration workflows.
- Understanding of data warehousing concepts, governance frameworks, data quality assurance, and information management principles.
- Excellent analytical capabilities complemented by strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to forge effective partnerships across technical and non-technical teams.

The salary range for this position is NZD 115,536 to 141,751 annually, with starting salaries dependent on experience and qualifications.
