Job description
Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Data Center Technician to join our team at the Mayfield West facility in Australia. This full-time, on-site position involves maintaining and supporting critical infrastructure within advanced data center environments.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain server and networking hardware.
- Carry out structured cabling tasks including copper and fiber optic types.
- Manage hardware deployments and decommissioning activities.
- Oversee environmental systems encompassing power, cooling, and security monitoring.
- Respond promptly to incidents and conduct thorough troubleshooting.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation and track all assets accurately.
- Work collaboratively with engineering and operational teams to ensure smooth facility functions.
- Engage in capacity planning initiatives and participate in infrastructure upgrades.
Candidate Qualifications and Skills
- A minimum of three years experience in data center operations.
- Proficiency in cabling, including Cat6/6a and fiber types OM3, OM4, OS2.
- Strong analytical skills with aptitude for troubleshooting complex issues.
- Experience handling rack and stack tasks efficiently.
- Knowledgeable about power distribution setups and UPS systems.
- Strong communication abilities and excellence in documentation practices.
- Physical capability to lift weights exceeding 50 pounds and perform under challenging conditions.
- Preferred certifications include data center credentials (CDCP, CDCS, CDCE), vendor certifications (Dell, HPE, Cisco), and network certifications (CCNA, JNCIA).
- Experience with Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) systems and familiarity with ITIL methodologies are advantageous.
