About Alpine Business Consulting
Alpine Business Consulting specializes in enterprise performance management and reporting systems. We focus on correcting failures in implementations where finance teams encounter inconsistent numbers and rely on manual processes. Currently, we are collaborating with a partner in Berlin to revamp their internal data architectures and reporting workflows.
Role Overview
This internship centers on ensuring data integrity and proper system configuration within active client projects. Your duties will involve verifying that financial numbers align across various platforms and maintaining accurate reporting logic. You will receive mentorship from experienced consultants proficient with technologies like Oracle EPM, SAP BPC, and modern analytics tools. The internship is fully remote and full-time, requiring self-management and regular communication through digital platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Support mapping of data from diverse source systems into centralized reporting tools.
- Analyze existing dashboards to detect inconsistencies or errors in data feeds.
- Develop and update configuration documentation to assist clients in managing systems independently.
- Engage in data validation tasks during month-end close simulations for the Berlin partner.
- Organize and cleanse outdated spreadsheets preparing them for migration to improved analytics platforms.
- Prepare technical workflow documentation and handover materials for finance teams.
- Verify report outputs against source data for complete accuracy.
- Assist in configuring new data dimensions and hierarchies within enterprise planning software.
Candidate Requirements
- Basic knowledge of data structures and the relationships between data tables.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including lookup functions and pivot tables.
- Familiarity or strong interest in learning SQL to write and execute basic queries.
- Detail-oriented work habits, especially in identifying errors in large data sets.
- Strong written communication skills essential for documenting processes.
- A critical approach towards automated data results with readiness to conduct manual verification.
- Dependability in managing remote work schedules and initiating support when encountering technical difficulties.
- Enrollment in or recent graduation from a degree program related to finance, mathematics, computer science, or similar fields.
What We Offer
This paid internship offers a professional, accuracy-focused environment where you will work closely with senior consultants who prioritize high-quality deliverables and clear documentation over quick fixes. Enjoy the flexibility of remote work while contributing meaningfully to a significant client project in Berlin.
Working Culture at Alpine Business Consulting
We pride ourselves on a culture that eschews corporate jargon and redundant meetings, and instead emphasizes functional systems, clean data, and practical client documentation. Interns are paired with senior experts rather than left unsupervised. Our objective is to equip clients with reliable systems and the knowledge to maintain them independently. Joining us provides an opportunity to learn how enterprise data flows through large organizations and how to resolve typical challenges faced by finance teams.
