Cover Supervisor

About the Role

We are seeking poised, authoritative individuals to serve as cover supervisors in secondary schools around Chester, Ellesmere Port, and nearby areas. This role requires taking charge of classrooms in the absence of teachers, managing student behavior effectively, and ensuring completion of pre-set work.

Key Responsibilities

• Command unfamiliar secondary classrooms with calm confidence and immediately establish clear boundaries.
• Utilize school behavior policies to manage defiance, de-escalate disruptions, and maintain student focus.
• Adapt quickly to various subjects and age groups, ensuring structured, safe environments during teacher absences.
• Support students to complete assigned tasks while fostering a positive and respectful classroom atmosphere.

Candidate Profile

• Exceptional skills in managing challenging behavior calmly and assertively.
• Strong physical presence coupled with clear and effective communication abilities.
• Experience working with teenagers or in high-pressure contexts such as sports coaching, youth work, military, behavior intervention, gym instruction, or security.
• Resilience, adaptability, and a thick-skinned demeanor.
• Possession of an Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one.
