Country Manager

Position Overview

The Country Manager will lead all aspects of the Uganda operations for Chloride Exide Limited, driving business performance, market expansion, and operational excellence aligned with the Group's strategy and governance. This role demands building a strong, customer-focused, values-based culture emphasizing accountability, collaboration, and continuous enhancement, while fostering key partnerships with customers, regulators, and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a local business strategy that aligns with Group directives for the Uganda market.
• Achieve targeted revenue, profitability, and market share goals across the Battery, Solar, and DAB product lines.
• Enhance channel effectiveness by improving distributor, dealer, and key account performance.
• Scout and capitalize on novel business opportunities to sustain growth.
• Analyze market trends, competitor actions, and customer requirements to guide business strategies.
• Manage financial outcomes, focusing on profit before tax, revenue, working capital, inventory, receivables, cash flow, and expenses.
• Promote operational efficiency across sales, customer service, supply chain, and support departments.
• Utilize dashboards, KPIs, and regular performance reviews to monitor progress.
• Deliver outstanding customer experiences and cultivate strategic relationships with all business partners.
• Strengthen the company's presence and reputation in Uganda.
• Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing leadership team, fostering a respectful and collaborative workplace culture.
• Collaborate with People & Culture teams to drive performance management, learning, engagement, and organizational development.
• Manage change initiatives by ensuring clear communication and engagement across stakeholders.
• Ensure adherence to all legal, regulatory, and corporate governance standards, promoting strong ethics and accountability.
• Address audit findings promptly and enforce safety, health, and environmental standards.
• Represent the company to customers, government agencies, financial bodies, and industry groups.
• Coordinate with Group teams for alignment and best practice sharing.
• Provide timely, insightful reports and updates to senior leadership.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Commerce, Marketing, or related fields required.
• MBA or similar advanced degree is advantageous.
• Professional certifications in Sales, Finance, or Leadership are beneficial.
• At least 10 years of progressively senior leadership within commercial, manufacturing, distribution, or FMCG sectors.
• Minimum five years in senior roles responsible for revenue, profitability, and operational results.
• Proven ability to drive profitable growth, route-to-market strategies, and operational excellence.
• Experience managing business transformations, change initiatives, and cross-functional teams.
• Multi-site or regional operational experience is preferred.
