Job description
Role Overview
We are searching for a highly skilled Cost Controller to integrate with a prominent petrochemical project's team. This role focuses on delivering comprehensive cost oversight, including forecasting, budgeting, and performance reporting on significant brownfield and turnaround endeavors. The primary aim is to ensure all expenditures remain within the scope of approved budgets and project goals.
Key Duties
- Create, supervise, and update budgets, forecasts, and cost reports for projects.
- Monitor actual expenses, commitments, accruals, and cash flow versus approved budgets.
- Conduct variance analyses to pinpoint possible cost overruns.
- Prepare detailed weekly and monthly cost performance reports for project managers and stakeholders.
- Assist project managers with cost forecasting and earned value management.
- Oversee contractor spending and verify invoice compliance with agreed contract terms.
- Support change management tasks including variation orders and budget adjustments.
- Collaborate closely with Planning, Procurement, Contracts, Engineering, Construction, and Finance departments for accurate cost tracking.
- Identify and recommend strategies for cost reduction and improved project efficiency.
- Contribute to project close-out processes and finalize cost-related reports.
Qualifications and Experience
- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Finance, Accounting, Project Controls, or relevant fields.
- At least 10 years of experience in cost control within petrochemical, refining, or downstream oil & gas sectors.
- Proven track record in managing major Turnaround, Shutdown, and Brownfield projects.
- Deep understanding of EPC project environments and control methodologies.
- Strong capabilities in cost forecasting, budgeting, reporting, and variance analysis.
- Experience managing contractor costs, change orders, and overall financial tracking of projects.
- Advanced proficiency in SAP, Oracle, Primavera P6, Excel, and other project control reporting tools.
