About the Role

The Governor’s Office of Crime Prevention and Policy acts as a coordinating body offering strategic criminal justice advice to the Governor. It collaborates with government bodies, private organizations, and communities to support policies that enhance public safety, curb crime and juvenile delinquency, and assist victims.

This position is located at 100 Community Place, Crownsville, MD 21032 with a grade level of 18.

Key Responsibilities

This role supports the Audit Director by managing the agency's audit and compliance operations. The incumbent ensures all fiduciary and regulatory requirements for agency grant management are met. Duties include managing an audit schedule, conducting entry and exit meetings with internal staff, sub-recipients, and external entities, overseeing financial audits, supporting desk reviews and site visits, preparing audit documentation, administering a risk-based scoring system for sub-recipients, resolving audit discrepancies, handling appeals, and assisting with audit inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required. Experience: At least six years in administrative or professional roles.

Substitutions allowed:

  • Up to four years of required experience may be replaced by 30 college credit hours per year from an accredited institution.
  • A Bachelor's degree and two years of related professional or administrative experience can substitute for the required work experience.
  • A Master’s degree may replace the experience requirement entirely.
  • U.S. Armed Forces commission as an officer with relevant administrative staff work may substitute for experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a bachelor’s degree with 30 credit hours in Accounting supplemented by 3 credit hours in Auditing from an accredited institution.
  • At least two years' experience conducting financial and compliance audits for State or federal agencies, grantees, or businesses.
