Overview

Working as a Community Payback Supervisor provides an opportunity to positively influence the lives of people serving probation orders while benefiting the local community. The role involves supporting offenders on their rehabilitation journey through the supervision of unpaid work tasks that help improve community spaces.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee groups of offenders performing community payback unpaid work for up to 7 hours daily.
• Supervise work sites ensuring tasks are completed safely and efficiently including manual labor such as clearing overgrowth, facility restoration, planting, litter picking, and graffiti removal.
• Drive service vehicles when required to transport people or equipment, holding a full UK manual driving licence is essential.
• Motivate and guide service users to maximize task completion and demonstrate best practices.
• Work some weekends and occasional evenings, receiving increased pay for weekend shifts.

Work Pattern and Benefits

This role is designed to accommodate individuals with caring responsibilities or other commitments, requiring frequent weekend work across seven-day community projects. The pace may lead to irregular breaks, but wellbeing support is provided.

Compensation begins at £28,064 per annum pro-rated for part-time hours. Pay progression is available annually through a Competency Based Framework aligned with Civil Service pay guidelines.

Requirements

• Must hold a full UK Manual Driving Licence; automatic licence holders are not eligible.
• Right to live and work in the UK is mandatory with compliance to Civil Service nationality and immigration rules.
• Successful candidates will undergo criminal record and baseline personnel security checks.
• Applicants need good communication skills, empathy, and leadership ability to manage diverse teams effectively.
