Role Overview
Chedi Hospitality is seeking a Commis I for the bakery team in Doha, Qatar. This is a full-time, on-site position focused on supporting day-to-day bakery production, presentation, hygiene, and service standards in a hotel environment.
Qualifications
- A certificate or diploma in Culinary Arts, Bakery, or a similar discipline is preferred.
- At least 1 year of experience working as a Commis Chef, or 2 years as an Apprentice, in a hotel, bakery, or high-quality restaurant.
- Working knowledge of bakery production methods, ingredients, dough handling, and baking processes.
- Clear understanding of food hygiene practices, HACCP requirements, and occupational health and safety expectations.
- Ability to perform effectively in a busy, fast-moving setting while keeping quality consistent.
- A constructive attitude, eagerness to improve, and strong collaboration skills.
Key Responsibilities
The role supports bakery operations, guest satisfaction, teamwork, and compliance with hotel procedures and safety standards.
Operations
- Help prepare, produce, and present bakery items in line with hotel standards and approved recipes.
- Set up and organize mise en place needed for daily bakery service.
- Support the making and baking of breads, rolls, artisan breads, viennoiserie, and other assigned baked goods.
- Maintain consistency in taste, appearance, and portioning across all products.
- Use bakery equipment safely and efficiently, and report any maintenance concerns without delay.
- Keep ingredients and completed products stored correctly, following FIFO principles and food safety rules.
- Ensure the bakery area, tools, and workstations remain clean, orderly, and hygienic at all times.
- Reduce waste through careful handling, proper storage, and stock rotation.
- Assist with buffet setups, banquets, and special functions when needed.
- Provide support to other kitchen sections whenever operationally required.
- Perform additional duties assigned by the Chef de Partie, Sous Chef, or Executive Chef.
Guest Service
- Contribute to the delivery of bakery products that meet hotel standards and guest expectations.
- Follow guest dietary needs and special requests whenever applicable.
- Maintain respectful and professional working relationships with colleagues across departments.
Teamwork & Development
- Attend briefings, meetings, and training sessions as required by the department.
- Show a strong willingness to learn and keep improving bakery knowledge and technical ability.
- Support the organization’s values through professionalism, teamwork, and a positive approach.
Policies, Health & Safety
- Follow hotel policies, grooming standards, and department procedures at all times.
- Maintain excellent standards of food hygiene, sanitation, and workplace cleanliness.

- Handle ingredients, equipment, and chemicals in a safe and responsible manner.
- Carry out other reasonable tasks assigned by the Executive Chef, Sous Chef, or Chef de Partie.
