Cloud Engineer

Role overview

The Cloud Engineer will be responsible for administering and securing the Microsoft cloud environment, with a strong focus on Azure and Microsoft 365 operations, governance, and protection.

Core responsibilities

• Handle the provisioning and ongoing management of Azure infrastructure, including virtual machines, storage, and networking components.
• Administer Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and the TAWASOL environment, including regular monthly health checks and continuous patching.
• Manage Azure Virtual Desktop host pools to support virtual desktop operations.
• Implement access control using RBAC and maintain security patching across the cloud estate.
• Apply Azure Policies and Microsoft 365 security controls such as DLP, MFA, and MDM to maintain compliance.
• Oversee Azure Security Center, Microsoft Sentinel, and related compliance controls.
• Monitor cloud consumption through Azure Cost Management and set up budget alerts to support cost control.
• Administer Azure Backup Vault and Recovery Services to strengthen backup and disaster recovery readiness.
• Manage Office 365 E5 accounts and subscriptions, along with SharePoint Online administration.
• Deploy and support Microsoft Intune for corporate and BYOD device enrolment, MDM policy enforcement, and conditional access.
• Maintain the Microsoft Teams cloud phone system and associated collaboration services.

Experience and certification requirements

This role is intended for a Solutions Architect-level professional with proven hands-on experience in Microsoft cloud administration. A Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification is mandatory.

Specialized platform expertise

• Strong practical experience with AKS, Sentinel, Intune, and Azure Virtual Desktop host pools.
• Deep familiarity with Azure governance, security, and operational management across both Azure and Microsoft 365 environments.
