Civil CAD Designer - Mining

Position Overview

JDS Energy & Mining is seeking a skilled Civil CAD Designer / Draftsperson based in Vancouver, BC or operating on a site-based rotation schedule. This full-time role is focused on supporting the engineering and construction teams by producing precise design drawings and models specifically tailored for mining and civil infrastructure projects.

Role Details

The successful candidate will create detailed 2D drawings and comprehensive 3D models encompassing mine sites, heavy civil infrastructure, and earthworks. Responsibilities include designing site grading, earthworks, roads, drainage systems, and layouts for mine support infrastructure. This role requires collaboration with multiple disciplines such as engineers, surveyors, and project teams to ensure the highest quality deliverables that facilitate safe and efficient project execution.

Key Duties

• Generate detailed 2D and 3D civil and mining infrastructure drawings.
• Design site grading, earthworks, roads, drainage, and mine support layouts.
• Produce construction documents including plans, profiles, cross sections, and details.
• Cooperate with engineering, surveying, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure deliverable accuracy and quality.
• Update and revise drawings reflecting engineering changes, field data, and client input.
• Maintain strict adherence to drafting standards, drawing controls, and document management protocols.
• Coordinate with structural, mechanical, and electrical teams to ensure seamless project integration.
• Provide construction support with as-built drawings and site modification documentation.
• Participate actively in design reviews and quality assurance initiatives.
