Retraining Program
- The full-time retraining program spans 39 hours per week, combining theoretical lessons with practical training.
- The theoretical instruction takes place in regional training centers, while practical assignments are arranged close to your residence when possible.
Key Responsibilities After Retraining
- Operate train traffic at small, medium, or large signal boxes using levers, push buttons, and rotary switches.
- Set routes by aligning tracks, switches, and signals to ensure trains can safely depart stations.
- Monitor train operations within stations.
- Communicate and coordinate with colleagues in signal boxes, train drivers, and control centers as part of daily duties.
Candidate Profile
- Successful completion of vocational training, for example as retail salesperson, restaurant specialist, bakery sales clerk, or office clerk.
- Basic computer skills are necessary.
- Ability to remain calm and maintain composure in demanding situations.
- Strong teamwork skills and willingness to take responsibility.
- Readiness for shift work including nights, weekends, and holidays, balanced with personal work-life balance.
Applications from already qualified train traffic controllers are also welcome.

We value every application regardless of gender, nationality, ethnicity, religion, worldview, disability status, age, duration of unemployment, sexual orientation, or identity.
Benefits
- 16 complimentary train rides per year within Germany plus travel discounts including a DB Job-Ticket for daily commute; discounted options for family and friends are also available.
- Competitive salary packages comprising generally permanent contracts, job security, additional perks, and company pension plans.
- Long-term development and advancement opportunities through seminars, training, and qualifications at specialist, project, or leadership levels.
