About the Role
We are excited to invite you to join the Merchandise Team as a Buyers Assistant focusing on Building Supplies & Plumbing. This role offers a dynamic and varied work environment where no two days are alike. Reporting directly to the National Buyers, your responsibilities will include assisting in range reviews, merchandise strategy, and supporting various administrative tasks. You will play a key role in coordinating with stores and suppliers alongside the Buyers.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the buyer with administrative duties related to range management, such as product updates, inventory control, and allocation adjustments.
- Implement cost and retail price changes as directed by the Buyer.
- Track and evaluate competitor activities.
- Serve as a liaison between stores, suppliers, Operations, Marketing, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure smooth communication and support.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a highly organized individual with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and an acute attention to detail. You will demonstrate strong planning abilities and a proactive approach to managing priorities, thriving in a fast-paced setting with diverse daily tasks. Experience working within retail environments and a passion for merchandising will be advantageous.
Requirements
- Outstanding organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- An understanding of the importance of meeting deadlines.
- The capability to self-manage work and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Well-developed verbal and written communication abilities.
- A relevant tertiary qualification is preferred but not mandatory; retail experience is also valued.
- A positive attitude towards working in a lively team atmosphere where fun complements dedication.
