Role overview
Fire Rover is hiring an experienced sales professional for a Business Development Manager role focused on new markets. The person in this position will own sales activity within an assigned territory, pursue new business, and help expand into additional verticals. This role is open to candidates outside Michigan.
What you will do
- Drive territory sales performance by actively identifying and pursuing new opportunities.
- Build sales plans and territory strategies to grow market reach and penetration.
- Take part in annual sales planning and strategy discussions.
- Prepare quotations and identify strategic accounts each month.
- Set up and execute action plans through regular customer and prospect meetings, with a minimum of 20 visits per month.
- Review technical requirements, prepare system design documentation, and support the creation of accurate proposals for prospects and existing customers.
- Deliver up to five customer presentations each month, including travel to conferences, association meetings, customer sites, and meetings with manufacturers’ representatives when needed.
- Work with the CRO to make sure customer commitments and opportunities are properly captured.
- Track individual prospecting and sales activity, maintain HubSpot funnel records, and provide weekly sales forecasts.
- Submit monthly field-visit reports to the CRO.
- Support and participate in customer appreciation initiatives.
- Meet or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual targets for sales, margin, mix, and market share.
- Use research and data to identify business needs, improvement areas, and commercial opportunities.
- Educate prospects and key accounts through product seminars and direct interaction.
- Help develop and support appropriate business initiatives that benefit the company.
- Nurture customer relationships and strengthen success within the assigned vertical.
Experience and background
Candidates must have experience in one of these industries: EV fleets, pulp and paper, aircraft hangars, ASRS, mining, marine, military, or ports.
The role requires at least five years of experience in sales, marketing, or another commercial business function. Experience in a low-volume, highly engineered manufacturing environment is preferred, especially in paper and plastics, petroleum, high-risk fire environments, or municipal sales.
Education
A bachelor’s degree is preferred, ideally in mechanical engineering, sales, marketing, business, or a related field. Relevant work experience may also be considered.

Travel requirement

The role offers a base salary plus commission. Pay will be competitive and based on experience.
