Overview
Boardwalk is hiring a building handyperson for a full-time position in Kitchener, Ontario. This role is based entirely at the worksite and cannot be performed remotely.
Language Requirement
English proficiency is required for this position.
Education
A secondary school graduation certificate is required.
Experience
Applicants should have between 2 years and less than 3 years of relevant experience.
Work Environment
The role involves working in all weather conditions and is set in an apartment or condominium complex.
Responsibilities
- Use industrial vacuum cleaners to clear debris, dirt, scrap material, and other waste.
- Collect and dispose of garbage from bins and waste containers.
- Clean windows, interior walls, and ceilings.
- Carry out small repairs and basic adjustments to heating, cooling, ventilation, plumbing, and electrical systems, and coordinate with tradespeople for larger repair work.
- Complete minor repairs on appliances.
- Carry out security and safety inspections.
- Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies as needed.
- Perform general upkeep tasks such as painting and drywall patching.
- Water and care for plants, lawns, and garden areas.
- Work independently with little supervision.
- Remove snow and ice from walkways and parking areas.
Equipment and Specialization
Experience with power tools, small tractors fitted with lawn or snow-removal attachments, and snowblowers is expected.
Additional Information
A criminal record check is required. The candidate must have their own vehicle and a valid driver's licence. The job involves repetitive tasks, heavy lifting, a physically demanding workload, and frequent bending, crouching, and kneeling. The weight handled may be up to 23 kg (50 lbs). Applicants must provide their own tools and steel-toed safety boots.
