About Times Radio and Role Overview
Times Radio represents the journalistic excellence, credibility, and skill synonymous with The Times and Sunday Times. It serves as the broadcast outlet of these esteemed newspapers and features leading broadcasting figures such as Andrew Neil, John Pienaar, Jane Garvey, and Fi Glover.
As a key Times Radio on-air newsreader, your primary responsibility will be to craft and deliver news bulletins every 30 minutes. Under the supervision of the Head of News, you will track Times Radio broadcasts for significant news clips and effectively communicate major current affairs to a knowledgeable and engaged audience.
Team Environment
You will join the dynamic News Broadcasting team, which produces top-tier news and sport bulletins across national radio stations including Times Radio, talkSPORT, TALK, and Virgin Radio. Responsibilities also include presenting live breaking news both in-studio and on location and shaping unique stories. The team is highly responsive to breaking news and delivers visually engaging content, including some bulletins presented on camera as traditional radio and television boundaries merge. Although typically assigned to one station, you will often contribute across multiple networks.
Daily Duties
- Create and present critical news bulletins for the station.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to set the news agenda and make editorial decisions.
- Report live on emerging stories from the studio and various locations.
- Maintain authority and credibility with an informed audience.
- Work alongside the news team to develop premium quality scripts and audio for all stations.
- Produce, present, edit, and publish The Times Radio News Briefing Podcast.
- Coordinate with production teams to optimize live content delivery.
