Bridge Worker - South Tamworth

About the Role

Join Transport for NSW as a Bridge Worker based in South Tamworth, NSW. This permanent full-time position involves performing labouring and manual tasks for various bridges and culverts within the district. You will be responsible for maintenance activities involving timber, steel, and concrete structures, assisting other tradespeople, and performing painting duties as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct manual labour and handle physical tasks related to bridges and culverts at a sub-trade level.
• Carry out maintenance involving timber, steel, and concrete bridge components, and provide support to other trades when necessary.
• Operate under limited supervision to complete both routine and complex manual jobs.
• Use a range of hand tools, including powered and non-powered equipment, safely.
• Be prepared for periodic work away from home and respond to after-hours call-outs as required.
• Work a schedule of 19 days per month.
• Opportunity to develop additional skills in plant operations, formwork, falsework, concreting, and truck driving.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for a dependable individual with experience in labouring or similar civil construction roles, emphasizing safety at work.

Mandatory Qualifications and Requirements

• Construction industry White Card certification.
• Valid and unrestricted NSW driver's license.
• Willingness to obtain any mandatory licenses or tickets as needed.
• Reside within 100 km of the South Tamworth depot due to safety and fatigue management protocols.

Preferred Skills and Licenses

• Experience operating small plant machinery, forklifts, cranes, and both hand and power tools is highly desirable.
• Medium Rigid Licence and high-risk work tickets are advantageous but training will be provided if not held.
