About Rocket Lab

Role Overview
As an Avionics Technician, you will engage hands-on with the assembly and manufacture of electronic elements for the Electron rocket. Tasks include high-voltage battery assembly, crimping, wire harness fabrication, and precision soldering of printed circuit boards and avionics units. The position involves an evening shift schedule, Monday to Thursday 3:00 PM to 1:30 AM, enabling a long weekend every week with extra pay for evening hours. Relocation aid is offered if needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble and integrate electronic components of the launch vehicle with precision and adherence to quality standards.
- Manage tasks such as battery assembly, wiring harness creation, and fine soldering on PCB and avionics modules.
- Operate and maintain specialized electrical and mechanical test equipment to ensure component performance.
- Follow industry-standard electrostatic discharge (ESD) practices to protect sensitive electronics.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Trade qualification in a relevant field or a minimum of two years relevant industrial experience.
- Hands-on experience with precision electrical and/or mechanical assemblies.
- Familiarity with operation of electrical, mechanical, and automated testing apparatus.
- Strong visual acuity to inspect printed circuit boards and wiring assemblies for high-quality workmanship.
- Capability to produce components meeting exacting standards including soldering and wiring.
