Job description
Position Overview
Hamad International Airport is searching for an accomplished and well-organized Aviation Safety Specialist to reinforce their team. This role demands a dynamic individual with strong communication abilities and proven experience in enforcing and maintaining aviation safety standards. The appointed candidate will play a key role in upholding safety management system requirements and coordinating with various stakeholders to foster a secure airport environment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the Line Manager in maintaining and reviewing operational aviation safety and investigation programs to ensure alignment with SMS requirements and prevailing safety standards.
- Collaborate closely with Aerodrome Departments and Airport Stakeholders to meet shared aviation safety obligations and promote teamwork among involved parties.
- Critically review and confirm that all aviation safety procedures comply with Qatar Civil Aviation Regulations (QCAR), guaranteeing regulatory conformity.
- Contribute towards the creation and management of the Hazard Log and Risk Register while supporting MATAR’s documentation in adherence to State Regulatory Standards.
- Define and record Threat and Hazard Identification as well as Risk Management methodologies consistent with MATAR’s SMS manual to provide clear hazard handling protocols.
- Prepare comprehensive risk assessments, safety cases, and assist in aeronautical studies to effectively address regulatory non-compliance issues.
- Coordinate and provide backing for aerodrome oversight inspections undertaken by QCAA Aerodrome Standards Directorate, assuring compliance readiness.
- Assist in aerodrome certification processes by ensuring all compliance criteria are met and documentation remains current.
Qualifications and Experience
- Educational credentials of High School, Vocational, and Diploma qualifications with no less than five years of relevant work experience;
- Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with a minimum of four years’ relevant occupational experience;
- Completion of Safety Management Systems (SMS) training accredited by ICAO or ACI;
- Possession of ICAO Annex 14 training certification;
- Successful completion of Apron Management training endorsed by ICAO or ACI;
- Project Management training from an accredited institution;
- Demonstrated expertise in technical writing for developing procedural manuals and standard operating procedures;
- Proficiency in English communication, both verbal and written;
- Capable of translating complex aviation safety policies into clear, actionable procedures and feedback.
