Team and Project Overview
Within Thales Australia, we provide comprehensive solutions for dynamic Air Traffic Services supporting expanding domestic and international travel. We are delivering the harmonized Civil/Military Air Traffic Management System named OneSKY for Airservices Australia and Defence. This revolutionary system will elevate safety and efficiency, reduce delays, and improve environmental outcomes across Australian airspace.
Role Summary
The ATM Operational Specialist position plays a vital role in the TopSky-One project as part of the AOS team, contributing to the definition and delivery of tailored data solutions for end users in Air Traffic Management.
Key Responsibilities
- Gain comprehensive understanding of the TopSky-One subsystems: ATM, BYPASS, and SIM modules.
- Analyze current processes and identify opportunities to enhance co-engineering tools and workflows.
- Collaborate with the team to refine processes and methodologies to support all design and development activities.
- Engage in solution design, working closely with Product Owners and System Engineers.
- Participate actively in sprint and product increment demonstrations to provide constructive feedback on deliveries.
- Function fully within the AOS Operations Team, offering expert Air Traffic Management knowledge to CMATS activities.
- Contribute to the assembly and validation of datasets integral to CMATS testing and evaluation operations.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Demonstrated experience in managing Air Traffic Control operations.
- Hands-on experience preparing datasets for ATM systems.
- Strong familiarity with Australian ATM domain and adherence to Air Traffic Management standards such as ICAO, Eurocontrol, and AID.
- In-depth understanding of dataset objectives, adaptation data, and their operational impacts.
- Ability to interact effectively with multiple stakeholders holding varied goals.
- Proven capability to work in multicultural environments and collaborate with international clients.
Additional Requirements
This position requires a Defence security clearance; only Australian citizens eligible for and able to maintain this clearance may apply. More details on security vetting are available through the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency. Applicants currently holding foreign security clearances may qualify for recognition. The Australian Defence Trade Controls Act influences eligibility criteria based on nationality.
