Role Summary

The Associate Manager acts as the Site Head responsible for the day-to-day management of a small-scale solar plant (0-50 MW). This role ensures financial discipline, operational efficiency, safety adherence, and regulatory compliance while driving continuous improvement in site performance. The position supervises personnel, manages assets and inventories, oversees audits, and supports strategic and technological initiatives to maintain excellence and achieve organizational targets.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and reconcile monthly budgets against actual expenditures, providing detailed analysis and explanations for variances.
• Manage operating expenses, capital expenditures, and procurement budgets aligned with financial goals.
• Ensure timely payments and effective financial performance to meet revenue and cost benchmarks.
• Implement and utilize SAP for maintenance scheduling, notifications, and issue resolution including preventive and breakdown maintenance.
• Analyze interruption data daily, initiate root cause analysis and corrective actions to improve solar asset reliability and minimize downtime.
• Achieve operational metrics such as Performance Ratio, Capacity Utilization Factor, Plant Availability, and Grid Availability.
• Maintain zero repeat audit findings by addressing observations promptly within IMS and MAAS compliance frameworks.
• Optimize inventory using various analysis techniques (VED, FSN, ABC), ensuring critical spares availability for smooth operations.
• Oversee preventive maintenance, equipment testing, calibration, and general upkeep of solar assets.
• Ensure adherence to environmental, safety, health (ESG), Legatrix, 5S standards, business excellence, and relevant government regulations.
• Lead recruitment activities to fill vacancies within 45 days and maintain low team turnover.
• Conduct and fulfill training requirements to develop at least 20% of staff for higher responsibilities, focusing on solar O&M skills enhancement.
• Maintain effective communication and strong relationships with local stakeholders to facilitate site operations.
• Champion a safety-first culture aiming for zero accidents and lost time injuries through daily safety briefings, audits, and proactive hazard management.
• Develop business and strategic plans to maximize site efficiency and operational effectiveness.
• Drive technological adoption, including platforms like BAX and Google IC, and maintain SCADA communications for continuous performance monitoring.
• Manage site planning, inventory, procurement, and asset maintenance ensuring projects complete on time and within budget.
• Supervise waste management, scrap disposal, and ensure compliance with relevant policies for material conservation and safety.
• Coordinate VIP visits and special events ensuring operational readiness and protocol adherence.

Interactions

This role collaborates internally with senior leadership including the CEO, O&M Head, cluster heads, HO & site teams and supporting departments such as Safety, BD, HR, Finance, and Legal among others. Externally, it engages with clients, investors, regulatory bodies, vendors, government officials, and local communities.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree (B.E./B.Tech) or Diploma in Electrical, Electronics, or Energy-related disciplines.
• MBA qualification is considered an advantage.
• A minimum of 8-10 years’ experience in the energy sector is mandatory; diploma holders should have 2-3 additional years of experience.
