Assistant Video Editor

Role Overview

Under the supervision of the Senior Video Editor, the Assistant Video Editor is responsible for editing a variety of video content including broadcast, social media, digital, and corporate promotional packages. This role utilizes brand-compliant assets and standards to produce polished video materials and other assorted projects. The candidate will independently create professional b-roll edits, promotional retags, and engaging 'sizzle videos,' ensuring accurate import and export of multimedia content across formats. They must demonstrate competence in project archiving and possess foundational skills in Adobe After Effects to perform daily promotional retag assignments.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce edits of commercial advertisements and re-tag projects strictly adhering to brand guidelines and specifications.
• Develop initial cuts of internal “sizzle” videos to support multiple teams across the organization.
• Compile b-roll footage for promotional activities.
• Manage import and export of projects for delivery to broadcast and distribution partners.
• Effectively communicate with senior team members and collaborate with colleagues to meet or exceed quality expectations and deadlines.
• Operate within an automated online workflow system to track and complete tasks efficiently.
• Eagerly learn and enhance postproduction expertise under the guidance and mentorship of senior staff.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline is preferred.
• Proficient with Adobe Creative Cloud Premiere at an expert level.
• Basic proficiency in Adobe After Effects.
• Minimum of two years’ experience in production-focused roles, ideally within agency or marketing communications environments.
• Capable of archiving postproduction projects according to best practices.
• Comfortable working in fast-paced conditions, meeting deadlines while maintaining high attention to detail.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and cooperatively within a team setting.
• Fundamental storytelling skills through video editing techniques.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, particularly handling tab-delimited data formats.
• Open to professional feedback and committed to continuous improvement in postproduction capabilities.
• Creative thinker able to stay current with industry trends.
