Job description

Overview

The Compliance Assurance unit is dedicated to implementing the Group Compliance Assurance Review program to ensure adherence to regulatory standards and internal compliance policies across the organization. This involves strategically planning, developing, and executing a risk-based compliance review plan, collaborating with various business divisions to conduct reviews, and issuing detailed reports that assure compliance while addressing identified gaps requiring correction. The unit also manages a comprehensive log of compliance issues across the Group and contributes to compliance reporting supporting the OPFO, GCC, and BRCC bodies.

Role Summary

The role involves creating an effective Group-wide Compliance Assurance function by developing and implementing a risk-based compliance testing plan. The purpose is to evaluate control effectiveness and confirm adherence to both Group Compliance policies and applicable regulatory mandates. Significant instances of non-compliance or inadequately mitigated risks must be escalated to senior management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting risk-based compliance testing reviews within the Group.
  • Assisting in formulating the annual UAE testing plan, schedules, and related documentation.
  • Collaborating with UAE departments to ensure review scopes and methods are well-targeted and comprehensive.
  • Performing compliance testing, including assessments of control design and operational effectiveness, following defined procedures.
  • Drafting testing reports and monitoring remediation progress by business units.
  • Providing leadership in refining compliance testing methodologies and aligning those with local, global, and industry best practices.
  • Logging identified compliance issues into the issue management system.
  • Supporting the Compliance Assurance team with ad hoc assignments as necessary.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Management, Banking, Finance or related field. Relevant certifications in compliance, corporate governance, risk management, or internal audit are preferred.
  • At least 4 years of experience in a reputable banking institution or auditing firm.
  • A minimum of 2 years dedicated to compliance monitoring, testing, or audit activities.
  • Certifications in compliance, corporate governance, risk management, or internal audit are advantageous.
